Technology in education has had a great impact on teaching. Using this technology has allowed the teacher to become versatile and attend to students with different learning styles.
While preparing this video we observed that many persons are not aware of the importance of safety and do not adhere to construction safety rules and regulations. As a result this will make the student aware of the dangers that can occur during constructional activities. However while observing sites we came across a site with a safety officer. This site was educational; we were able to speak to this officer and learnt several reasons why it is necessary to be safe on the construction site. Also this was the only site which contained each worker with approved safety gear. On entering this site were signs stating the rules and regulations before site visit.
The sites that were not safety friendly were sites for domestic purpose. The hard hat protects you from damaging your head, the safety glasses protect your eyes, the ear muffs protects your ears , the nozzle prevents you from inhaling chemicals that are hazardous to your body, the steel boots protect your feet from sharp objects on the floor and the overall is made up of material that does not catch on fire quickly.
Showing the students the dangers of not using the following gears was essential. Highlighting each ones hazard this will create awareness to the learner.
The process of creating the video was fun and educational as well. This video is not only essential to grade 9 learners but can be used by contractor who is preparing to construct a building on a construction site.

Reflecting
on this assignment I cannot help but remember those fun times and frustrations I
encountered in trying to carry out this task. This assignment was truly one
with ups and downs.
This
assignment was based on the use of video in the classroom to aid the process of
teaching and learning. We chose a topic that was relevant to our field. Being one
of the most important factors in anything one may consider to do, we decided to
look at safety and placed emphasis on safety gears on a construction site also
called ‘Personal Protective Gear’ (PPE). The use of this video was to make the
teaching and learning experience authentic and create a vivid learning
environment. Considering that every student in the classroom does not learn the
same way, the use of video would cater to most of their different styles for
example auditory, visual, kinestic etc.
The
first task in creating the video was to produce a story board. This was to help
us know exactly what order our video was going to take and what we would
include in our video. My group members and I sat and discussed our storyboard
and what we were going to put in. we made a presentation to the class and was
told that our story board was too graphic. We then made the necessary changes
and the next step was shooting the video.
We
set out to find a construction site in the north of the island but we were
unable to gain access to a site because of policy. Thanks to the warmth and
kindness of the East we were able to get our video. One of the challenges faced
when shooting the video was background noise and the wind. After this clip was
taken our video was put together to produce a lesson on PPE.

Reflections
Reflecting on what one has done can bring smiles or thrown , anger or joy, satisfaction or dissatisfaction. Intrinsic motivation has kept me going, the need to fulfill Maslow's hierarchy of needs , the need for self actualization has sustain me through it all. I would agree with you Ayana when you said that this was an assignment of assignment.
The various activities were done in relation to the field we are studying. Starting with the storyboard . Initially I thought the idea of the story board was for little children but putting it together made me think otherwise. I can see the effectiveness of the story board in the class room even the secondary schools classes. I believe it can enhance learning especially to the visual students. I see it as a fantastic idea to help me meet my objectives.
The assure model of lesson plan seems like a lot of work to do but looking at it closely I can see myself using it sometimes. when I look at the model a little closer it help me reflected on how I should teach my lesson content.
My biggest challenge was with the video . I understand why these actors are so stressed out. I thought this part of the assignment would be the best part but turns out that it was the most challenging . Shouting the video to my dismay was a nightmare. Imagine I felt like a Paparazzi, just some poor student teachers (yes we were seen in that light we were told that we looked poor) trying to do an assignment. Would you believe we were denied not once but twice at those site? Those people had the audacity to ask us to write to NIC just to shot a video. It seems our construction companies are getting sophisticated , 'company's policy'. Anyway we were well received in the east that why the east is the best we were offered help from the manager. Shooting the video seems like a movie certain in Hollywood. I thought we would complete this in fifteen minutes but this took more than an hour . I leant some valid lessons while working on this project. Looking back at the laughs ,smiles anger and disappointments I think every thing worked for good Thank God
Reflection
This was the assignment of all assignments. The aim of this assignment was to create a video that could be used to aid classroom instruction. Our group choose to focus the video on the topic 'Personal Protective Equipment'.
Our first task in the video production process was to create a storyboard. It seemed quite tedious at first, but the significance of this step was quickly realized - a video without a storyboard is like a cart without a horse. Story-boarding allowed us to visualize how everything will be put together and to organize our images, text, motion and sound effects before attempting to shoot the video.
On November 4, 2013 our story board was shared with the lecturer and the class as a whole. We received suggestions on improvements that could be made to make our video more effective in the classroom. Our group went back to the drawing board and came up with the final product.
Now that we had the 'horse', we set out to get the 'cart'. We had great difficulty in accessing a construction site in the north of the island that would allow us to shot our video. We were however able to shot our video in the community of Micoud. Our clips were shot from a cellphone. Movie maker software was then used to turn our clips into a video.
Finally, we had to utilize the ASSURE model to create a lesson plan in-cooperating the video that was made.
This was the first time we were using this model. It proved to be extremely thorough. The learning styles of most students vary from auditory to visual to kinetic hence the use of the video will be very useful in ensuring that learning takes place.
Despite all the challenges that we encountered as a group this assignment brought about a change in the way that I view the instruction process. I have learnt to focus on the needs of the students and provide the necessary environment that would make learning fun for them.
